K-5 Physical Education Curriculum - Sample Units By Design
These are some basic outlines using the 'Unit By Design' instructional planning model I use in P.E. Studies have shown that students do not learn things best in a day, rather, through practice and teaming with other learners for extended periods of time. The UBD model allows the teacher to plan 1-3 week Units surrounding a central theme or focus, while including many options for learners to hit the targeted objectives/skills.
This method allows the teacher to operate at the highest level of the TTESS evaluation model by monitoring and adjusting to student interests and abilities per individual class and skill level. It is a student/learner approach to education, rather than a teacher/instructional focus. It also provides unlimited opportunities at "differentiation", another primary focus of the TTESS standards.
Feel free to download these sample templates and edit documents as needed for your own planning purposes!
